Training

Training courses (at basic, intermediate, or advanced level) on sedimentological core description, sedimentary facies analysis & reconstruction of depositional environments from core, cuttings & wireline logs, petrographic/ reservoir quality analysis and rock-typing methodology addressed to geoscientists, petroleum geologists, operations/ wellsite geologists, geological engineers and academics needing to build up experience in how to describe and interpret the drilled/ cored sediments - particularly clastics, carbonates and shales - intercepted in drilling wells, and how to estimate the reservoir quality (through detailed petrographic analysis and analogue petrophysics). Training sessions/ modules can be run on an established format (agreed with client), or ‘bespoken’ (i.e., tailored to client’s needs), at client’s location or online.

Field training in sedimentology can also be provided on suitable outcrops (‘outcrop sedimentology’). Thematic field trips can be organized upon agreement with client.

Examples of training modules organized:

  • Core Description and Depositional Environment Interpretations – Applications for Clastic and Carbonate Rocks (two-weeks training course/ workshop for oil industry, on core material/ intervals chosen by client).
  • Sedimentological Core Description (bespoken one-week training modules/ workshops for oil industry clients, study partners, national agencies).

  • Depositional Facies and Environments in the Paleogene and Neogene Terrains of the Eastern Carpathians (two-weeks field trip, on: alluvial fan/ fan deltas, tidal shoreface to deltaic and shallow-marine sediments & environments; tubiditic systems vs. pelagites; shallow water evaporites; volcaniclastic sediments).
  • Petrographic analysis of siliciclastic and carbonate rocks (two-weeks training courses for oil companies).
  • Rock-typing analysis of siliciclastic and carbonate reservoirs (two-weeks training course for oil/ service companies).
  • Reservoir quality analysis of siliciclastic and carbonate reservoirs (one-week training module for oil industry geologists).
